    WACOSA is currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) on our 1st shift in Sauk Centre.

    DSP’s play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, fulfilling, and independent lives.

    Responsibilities of a DSP:

    • DSP's provide hands-on support with daily living activities, including bathroom assistance, meal preparation, and medication administration.
    • Develop skills of clients so they can live and work in the community at their greatest potential.
    • Use continuous training concepts to increase client's ability to be successful in a variety of social and employment settings.
    • Conduct appropriate, creative, stimulating and varied curriculum activities, providing clients with functional training outcomes.
    • Collect and enter data per company and licensing requirements.
    • DSP's provide transportation for adults with disabilities through use of a company vehicle (to client homes and contracts).
    • Provide interaction with clients and mentoring, that results in increased: Independence in all areas of their day, healthy social interactions, self-regulated behaviors, opportunities to use skills in decision making, work opportunities and productivity, and opportunities for client self-advocacy.
    • Continuous use of person-centered principles.

    Qualifications and Skills for a DSP:

    • Must have HS diploma or equivalent.
    • People skills, patience, organized, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain valid CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid MN Drivers License and insurable driving record.
    • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with adult lifts and transfers.
    • Experience working with disabled and special needs individuals preferred.

    From a grassroots organization, WACOSA has grown dramatically over the years, serving over 650 adults with disabilities having one or more cognitive and/or physical challenges. WACOSA s services are provided at our five program locations, located in Waite Park, St. Cloud and Sauk Centre, MN.

    Our programs provide a wide variety of personal life enrichment activities, employment and career options, and volunteering and community connection opportunities. The clients we serve help us develop an ever changing, wide ranging, menu of services that meet their individual goals, needs and dreams.
