DESCRIPTION:Soapbox Derby Rules\n\nSauk Centre Lions Club & Rotary Club of Sauk Centre\n\n\n	\n	Sauk Centre Soapbox Derby Rules\n\n	\n	1. Gotta GO (Power & Design)\n\n	         All soapbox derby cars must be powered solely by gravity.\n\n	         No form of propulsion is allowed (mechanical\, electrical\, motors\, pedals\, stored energy\, pushing or pulling).\n\n	         Vehicles may not use moving or shifting weights to gain speed.\n\n	         All weight must remain fixed and stationary during the race.\n\n	2. Materials & Construction\n\n	         No restrictions on size\, weight\, materials\, or design.\n\n	         Use screws instead of nails when building with wood.\n\n	         Use plenty of wood glue for added strength.\n\n	3. Gotta TURN (Steering)\n\n	         Pivot steering is the most common and recommended method.\n\n	         Linkage steering is more complex and not recommended.\n\n	         Course is straight avoid overly sharp turning capability.\n\n	         Design carts to prevent tipping or flipping.\n\n	4. Gotta STOP (Braking)\n\n	         All carts must be able to stop safely.\n\n	         Wheel skid pad brakes (recommended).\n\n	         Ground skid pad brakes (less effective).\n\n	         Caliper brakes (effective if built correctly).\n\n	5. Gotta TOW (Return System)\n\n	         Each cart must have a secure hook or attachment point.\n\n	         Carts will be towed back using a 4-wheeler.\n\n	6. Gotta BE SAFE (Safety Requirements)\n\n	         Helmets are required and must not be altered.\n\n	         No helmet = no participation.\n\n	         Elbow pads are strongly encouraged.\n\n	         Entry form and waiver are required.\n\n	         Drivers under 18 need a signed parent/guardian permission form.\n\n	         Forms due to James Macey by July 17\, 2026.\n\n	7.
